Day Shift (horror movie) film review

Jamie Foxx and Dave Franco are the stars of the new vampire hunting movie "Day Shift". The story is about a hardworking blue collar dad who wants to provide a decent life for his smart daughter. But his boring job cleaning pools in San Fernando Valley, California, is only a facade for his real income source, hunting and killing vampirics as part of the international Union of vampire hunters.

The premise sounds exciting, but can J.J. Perry deliver on it?

The opening scene in "Day Shift" is a crazy action sequence with Jamie Foxx shotgun blasting the hell out of an old lady who turns out to be a vampire, which then becomes this nuts fight sequence between the two of them that is such a blast. The movie's use of rag-doll physics in its action scenes makes them pop in a way other Netflix action movies (or blockbusters) do not. It's easy not to think about the old saying, "action speaks Louder than words". I believe that Day Shift is able to successfully use dialogue and action to help the plot and character growth. For example, after Jamie Foxx's character finally kills the vampire, he has a hilariously dry exchange with his partner about how he "thought she was going to turn into a bat or something." It's moments like this that (first article) help to elevate "Day Shift" above other similar movies.

Day Shift has a lot of fun and is not too serious. I was able to enjoy it the entire way. I found it entertaining and not too complicated. It featured great action and was unique. It was funny and made me laugh a lot. Of course it also took reference from som brilliant vampire films such as Blade and the Lost Boys which also happen to be some of my favorite films. The acting was solid, the directing was brilliant and the cinematography quite impressive. If you're looking for a movie to watch that's just enjoyable and not too serious, then I would recommend checking out Day Shift. It's great fun.

Day Shift was a very mixed movie. The movie has a lot to offer, including some action scenes that are fun and some characters like the two brothers and Seth. But the villain is horrible and there are many mediocre characters. That helps the stronger characters shine more. There seemed to be missing scenes that were cut. Bud's neighbor acts like they're friends, even though before the final scene she maybe had 3 minutes of screen time. Bud's prank phone calling at the gas station was the best moment of the movie. It was hilarious, and I loved watching it. However, the movie didn't end as well. So, overall, I'd say that Day Shift is a mixed bag. There are some great parts and some terrible parts. However, if you want to have some fun, there are better movies than this one.

Snoop dogg makes the entire movie worth watching. Snoop Dogg is loved by everyone. He's the embodiment of cool.
